This Louth (Lincolnshire) club is possibly the last remaining not-for-profit members' club dedicated to keeping alive the music of New Orleans Jazz. Part of the Louth area's jazz scene for over 60 years, the club has the music of New Orleans and Dixieland at its core and from time to time features more mainstream and modern jazz and blues.
In January 1975, New Orleans trombonist Louis Nelson played for us. Such was the demand for tickets that the Club hired the Louth British Legion Hall in Northgate to accommodate the expected crowd. Now the premises, which have seen many fine musicians play over the years, is closed and the Louth community are trying to purchase it to save it from demolition. It’s the only independent venue in the town that can hold an audience of 100+ and is badly needed.
